History of SEBIG

This group was founded by Dale Hutchinson (Anthropology, UNC Chapel Hill) and Gwen Robbins Schug (Biology, UNC Greensboro) in October 2013 as an interest group for faculty and students engaged in skeletal biology research. It has since expanded to incorporate scholars interested in biological anthropology more broadly. Each year SEBIG hosts a one-day meeting in the Spring to provide an opportunity for networking and feedback on research projects. NC State will host the meeting for the first time in 2026.
