SEBIG 2027 Travel Information

SEBIG 2027 will be held on Saturday, February 27, 2027 at NC State University, Raleigh, NC 27695. The meeting takes place on NC State’s main campus, which sits along Hillsborough Street and Western Boulevard just west of downtown Raleigh.

Specific building and room: Coming Soon. We will post the venue, a map, and recommended parking as soon as the space is confirmed.

Getting to Raleigh

By car: NC State’s main campus is reached from I-40 and I-440 (the Beltline) via Western Boulevard, Hillsborough Street, or Gorman Street. Use the NC State campus map to find buildings and lots, and plan on 15 to 20 minutes from most Raleigh neighborhoods on a Saturday morning.

By air: Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU) is about 15 miles, or roughly 20 minutes, from campus. Rideshare (Uber and Lyft), taxis, and rental cars are all available at the terminals; see RDU ground transportation. For public transit, GoTriangle Route 100 runs from RDU to GoRaleigh Station downtown, where GoRaleigh buses continue to campus along Hillsborough Street and Western Boulevard.

By train: Amtrak’s Raleigh Union Station (510 West Martin Street) is about 10 minutes from campus by rideshare. The Piedmont and Carolinian routes connect Raleigh with Durham, Greensboro, Charlotte, and points north.

Parking

NC State parking permits are enforced Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., so most faculty, staff, and commuter lots are open to visitors on Saturdays at no charge. Hourly pay parking is also available around the clock in the campus parking decks (including the Coliseum Deck and Dan Allen Deck) through the ParkMobile app, at $3 for the first hour and $2 for each additional hour, with a $15 daily maximum. Cash is not accepted.

Please check the NC State visitor parking page and the interactive parking map before you arrive. We will add recommended lots and a walking route once the venue is confirmed.

Accessibility

Accessible parking spaces are located throughout campus; see NC State Transportation’s accessible parking information. If you have any access needs for the meeting (ASL, CART, mobility, refrigerator access for medications, or anything else), please email [email protected] and we will make arrangements.

Hotels

We do not have a room block, so please book directly with the hotel of your choice. Rates vary by date, and late February is a busy season in Raleigh, so we recommend reserving early. The hotels below are close to campus and were used by SEBIG attendees in past years.

Around Campus

Hillsborough Street, which runs along the north edge of campus, has coffee shops, restaurants, and bars within a short walk of the central campus. Downtown Raleigh, the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences, and the North Carolina Museum of Art are all within a 10 to 15 minute drive if you are staying the weekend.

Weather: Late February in Raleigh is typically cool, with daytime highs in the 50s F and overnight lows in the 30s F. Rain is possible, so bring a jacket and an umbrella.
